The Boston region is in for a seasonably warm and mostly sunny week ahead, according to National Weather Service forecasts.
“This week is shaping up to be pretty nice, pretty seasonable,” said NWS meteorologist Kyle Pederson. “For temperatures, highs look like they’re going to be in the low 80s tomorrow, and then the rest of the week, they’re going to be sitting in the mid 70s.”
Monday may be the warmest day of the week, NWS forecasts show, with a high in the low 80s. The start of the week is also forecasted to partly sunny and see patchy fog through the early morning, NWS states.
A chance of showers is expected to remain through Monday, with a chance of thunderstorms rolling in in the afternoon, NWS forecasts.
“Our main chance for precipitation is (Monday),” Pederson said. “And then after that, it looks pretty dry the rest of this week.”
Throughout the rest of the work week, high temperatures are expected to remain in the high 70s to low 80s, forecasts show. Skies are forecast to remain sunny on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the weather service, and mostly sunny Thursday and Friday.
“In Boston, our normal high for the time of year is about 79 degrees,” said Pederson. “Most of this week we should be about on par for that, maybe a bit below, actually.”
Heading into the weekend, high temperatures may drop a bit into the mid-70s, NWS forecasts.
The dangerous sea conditions off the Massachusetts coast, which have been present throughout the week due to distant impacts of Hurricane Erin, are expected to “drop off” in the coming week as high pressure moves in, Pederson said.
“Erin was well offshore, but those high steps Erin caused will be pretty much gone today and continue to diminish,” said Pederson. “So the high surf and the gale warnings have been allowed to expire, and we’re looking at fairly calm, floating weather pretty much the rest of this week.”
