“Butt Sniffer” Calese Crowder Arrested Again in Burbank — Repeat Offender Held Without Bail
Some men don’t learn, and 38-year-old Calese Crowder has become a notorious example. The registered sex offender, who made headlines for sniffing women’s buttocks in public spaces, has been arrested yet again after another disturbing incident — this time at a Walgreens in Burbank.
The up-to-date Incident
Police say the up-to-date arrest happened Wednesday after employees at a Burbank Walgreens called authorities to report a suspicious man harassing women inside the store. Witnesses claim Crowder was once again engaging in his signature behavior — creeping behind female shoppers and attempting to sniff their buttocks.
Officers located him a few hours later and placed him under arrest. Because Crowder was already on parole for prior incidents, prosecutors wasted no time charging him with a felony. He is currently being held without bail.

A Pattern of Behavior
Unfortunately, this is far from the first time Crowder has been caught. His rap sheet includes multiple arrests in both Glendale and Burbank dating back to at least 2021.
Just last month, in mid-July, he was arrested following a similar incident at the Burbank Empire Center. Police were called to the Nordstrom Rack after shoppers reported a suspicious man loitering in the women’s section.
According to officers, Crowder was later found at a nearby Walmart, where he allegedly followed a female shopper through the aisles. At one point, police say he crouched near her and engaged in lewd behavior, sniffing her from behind.
“While in the women’s section, the suspect was observed following a female customer, crouching near her, and engaging in lewd behavior by inappropriately sniffing her buttocks,” Burbank police said in a statement at the time.
Given his history, officers immediately detained him and launched another investigation.
Viral Infamy
Crowder first gained viral attention in 2023 when TikToker Michaela Witter shared a disturbing video of him allegedly stalking her at a Barnes & Noble in Burbank.
In the clip, Witter captured Crowder crouching down near her legs. When she confronted him, he insisted he was just “tying his shoes.” Witter later told her followers that it looked like he was sniffing her from behind.
The video racked up millions of views, with women in the comments saying they had similar encounters with him around town. Witter also accused him of targeting another woman in the same bookstore that day.
That incident — combined with his repeated arrests — cemented Crowder’s reputation as Burbank’s so-called “Butt Sniffer.”
With his up-to-date arrest, locals are questioning why Crowder has been allowed back on the streets after so many incidents. While California law requires him to register as a sex offender, his repeated parole violations suggest that the system hasn’t done enough to keep him from reoffending.
“This is someone who has been arrested multiple times for the exact same thing,” one frustrated shopper told local reporters. “At what point do we say enough is enough?”
What’s Next?
Crowder is being held without bail as prosecutors weigh their next move. Given his history, legal experts say the felony charge could finally carry a lengthy prison sentence if he’s convicted.
For immediately, though, women in Burbank are breathing a sigh of relief knowing that the man who’s been terrorizing stores and public spaces is at least temporarily off the streets.
But the bigger question remains: how many chances does one offender get before the courts decide to make it permanent?
