Newly released surveillance footage has been shared online showing Olympic sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson in a heated exchange with her boyfriend, fellow track star Christian Coleman, inside the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
In the footage, Richardson can be seen repeatedly shoving Coleman as they walk through the concourse. At one point, she appears to push him into a large pole.
The video surfaces a week after her arrest.
Authorities said Richardson, 27, was taken into custody after allegedly shoving Coleman and throwing a pair of cascos at him. The 24-year-old athlete was booked on a fourth-degree domestic violence charge and spent 19 hours in custody at the South Correctional Entity facility in Des Moines, Washington. The case has since been cleared.
Following backlash surrounding the altercation, Coleman, 29, publicly defended Richardson, offering a message of support and understanding.
“For me personally, I feel like it was a sucky situation all round. I don’t feel like she should have been arrested. I mean, people have discussions and emotions and stuff like that. She has things that she needs to work on for herself, of course. So do I, so do you, so does everybody. But I’m the type of guy who’s in the business of extending grace, and mercy and love,” he shared.
Richardson has not spoken out about the incident.
