
EXCLUSIVE: Production has wrapped on director Michael May‘s horror feature Where Darkness Dwells, which heralds from the producers of genre movies including Shelby Oaks and 12 Hour Shift.
The film marks the feature directorial debut of May, creator and host of Discovery Network’s docuseries Auto/Biography and its true-crime spinoff Auto/Biography: Cold Cases.
The synopsis reads: “Assigned to a missing person case, reporter Trish Bostwick follows the trail to a secluded asylum hidden in the New England woods, but everything changes when a knife-wielding stranger hijacks her car, plunging her into a descent of paranoia and madness.”
Starring are Katie Parker (The Fall of the House of Usher), Tara Perry (12 Hour Shift) and Scott Dean (12 Hour Shift). Producers are Ashleigh Snead (Neon’s Shelby Oaks) and HCT Media, the team behind 12 Hour Shift and Ghosts of the Ozarks.
The script was written by Alexandra Grunberg and May, with its score composed by Matt Glass. Co-producers on the project are Sean Anthony Davis and Simone Kisiel.
According to producers, the film, which was shot in rural New Hampshire, is due to play at multiple festivals later this year.
