
Warner Bros‘ highest grossing original horror movie of the year, Sinners, is returning to Imax cinemas for a one week engagement on Oct. 30.
The pic will also project in Imax 70MM. Sinners will be booked an theaters in North America, UK, France, Spain and other offshore markets. The Michael B. Jordan starring, Ryan Coogler period vampire movie racked up $278.5M domestic, $366M-plus worldwide.
Jordan plays twin brothers who are war vets that return to their Southern hometown. They quickly open in night club in the backwoods, only to encounter evil bigger than they ever imagined.
Pic also stars Hailee Steinfeld, newcomer Miles Caton, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Miller, Li Jun Li and Delroy Lindo. The Gotham Awards recently announced that they were presenting the cast with a tribute award at their 35th annual ceremony on Dec. 1 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.
Imax 70MM locations for Sinners include AMC Lincoln Square in New York City, NY; Universal AMC Citywalk in Los Angeles, CA; Irvine Spectrum and IMAX in Irvine, CA; AMC Metreon in San Francisco, CA; Indiana State Museum in Indianapolis, IN; Harkins Arizona Mills in Tempe, AZ; Autonation IMAX in Ft. Sinners, which cost a reported $100M before P&A, will see its ownership revert from Warner Bros to Coogler in 25 years. The movie opened stateside on April 18 defying projects with a $48 million 3-day and unheard of second weekend hold of -5% or $45.7 million.
