An investigation is underway after a man was found dead in a car in the parking lot of a hospital in Weymouth, Massachusetts, on Saturday afternoon.
State police say Weymouth police advised them shortly after 2 p.m. about an unattended death in the parking lot of South Shore Hospital after a person saw an unresponsive man in the backseat of a vehicle there and contacted authorities.
First responders arrived on scene and located the man, who was dead, police said.
The Norfolk County State Police detective unit and the crime scene services section responded.
The district attorney’s office has confirmed it is investigating the incident that occurred at the hospital at 55 Fogg Road.
An autopsy is scheduled to be performed Sunday to determine the man’s cause and manner of death, the district attorney’s office added. His name is not being released pending notification of family.
Video from the scene Saturday showed yellow police tape up in the parking lot near the hospital’s emergency department, as well as several police vehicles on scene. Detectives were also seen walking around the parking lot.
NBC10 Boston reached out to South Shore Hospital, which said they are referring all inquiries to the DA’s office.
