The season 4 premiere of Special Forces had Us wondering whether it was all a fever dream after Teresa Giudice was coined the “toilet whisperer” and Jussie Smollett‘s first awkward interaction was with none other than Kody Brown.
During the Fox show’s return on Thursday, September 25, viewers were introduced to new recruits Teresa, Jussie, Kody, Brittany Cartwright, Eric Decker, Jessie James Decker, Johnny Manziel, Chanel Iman, Nick Young, Ravi Patel, Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia, Andrew East, Shawn Johnson East, Randall Cobb, Mark Estes, Gia Giudice, Eva Marcille and Christie Pearce.
The group got off to a rough start when the Directing Staff (DS) instructors had fun mocking some of them. Teresa was called “stupid” while Johnny got asked if he brushed his teeth and Nick’s nonchalant attitude scored everyone a punishment. After each recruit was forced to crawl through a mud pit — and get their faces pressed into it for good measure — they were off on their first challenge.
The Directing Staff broke our favorite reality stars up into two groups: Alpha and Bravo. From there, they each had to jump out of a helicopter without going too quick or too slow or getting tangled up before descending.
This was a challenge for quite a few people, including Gia and Brittany. The obstacles continued with each recruit being ordered to carry supplies up and down a hill, which caused Jussie, Johnny, Brittany and others to quickly get winded from the excess exercise.

Just a few hours into the social experiment, Brittany was ready to tap out. That instinct only got worse when her team was deemed the losers for the day and forced to run back to basecamp. Brittany ultimately couldn’t keep up and chose to be the first one eliminated.
As the rest of the contestants settled in, friendships were formed between some. Kody and Jussie seemed like they were getting along until the Sister Wives star asked for the actor’s full name. Kody must have remembered Jussie’s 2016 alleged hate crime attack and accusations that it was a hoax because suddenly the vibes were more awkward between the pair. (Kody was then heard laughing about “second chances” after Jussie went outside.)
While some contestants had their interpersonal connections tested, Teresa faced a tougher challenge after being assigned toilet duty.
“For anyone who does poopies, tell me and I will go clean it after,” she told the others while Jussie said that task would cause him to leave the show. Teresa was then shown spraying away in the communal toilet to try to keep it as clean as possible.
Later in the episode, Johnny was the first one to have a sit-down with the Directing Staff, during whichhe opened up about his declining career as a professional football player. He touched on his past struggles with mental health and then was sent back to base. The contestants tried to get some sleep but instead were awoken in the middle of the night to do drills.
The sneak peek for next week’s episode is not looking any better for the reality TV stars. Not only do they have to test how long they can survive underwater, but there is also a challenge that requires them to fight each other — and things get bloody.
Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test airs on Fox Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET.
