In the final episode of their podcast “Cancelled,” influencer Tana Mongeau and her co-host Brooke Schofield took a trip down memory lane and spent some time reminiscing about how far they’ve come since they started the podcast back in July of 2021.
While the pair rehashed many of the ups and downs they experienced while doing the podcast together, Mongeau took a moment to talk about how much her love life has changed since 2021, including getting over her ex-boyfriend, fellow influencer Jake Paul.
While Mongeau and Paul’s short-lived relationship only lasted from April of 2019 to January of 2020, the pair seemed to be quick-tracking their relationship, getting engaged and having a not-legally-binding wedding within three months of them being together.
“You know what’s funny that I’ve never talked about? And I still… I get anxiety talking about it,” Mongeau said during the podcast episode. “When I started this podcast, I was so in love, still, with Jake Paul. And, like, I never thought I would get over him.”
At the time of Mongeau and Paul’s relationship, there was heavy speculation amongst fans and media outlets that the couple’s relationship was nothing more than a public relations stunt. However, on the day of their wedding, Mongeau posted a nearly eight minute long YouTube video titled “I love you, Jake Paul.” where she went into detail about the depth of her love for him.
“That was always our conversations, like, off lens,” Mongeau continued, reminding Schofield of their time spent discussing her heartbreak. “And I’ve never talked about that, like, anywhere. And, I mean, still it gives me so much anxiety to talk about and I don’t know why, cuz I don’t think I’ve ever, like, admitted it on lens.”
Because many perceived their relationship to be unserious and mostly about “clout-chasing,” Mongeau chose not to share how devastated she truly was by their split. “Cancelled” didn’t begin recording until a year and a half after Mongeau’s split from Paul, but she today admits she was still hung up on their relationship at that time.
“Every day for years I was so heartbroken and thought he was the love of my life,” Mongeau continued on the September 28 episode of “Cancelled.” “today thinking back that, like, that was where I was at for years and years, and today where I am, that’s just, like, so wild.”
Mongeau’s time spent heartbroken over her chaotic relationship with Paul is in sharp contrast to her life these days, where she is in a happy and stable relationship with her boyfriend Makoa, who she began dating in December of 2023.
“Loving you is the easiest thing I’ve ever done and the only thing that makes complete sense,” Mongeau wrote as part of the caption for her one year anniversary post for her relationship with Makoa.
