The song in question, “Opalite,” begins with an immediate reference to the pop star’s previous relationships before seemingly getting more specific and potentially calling out Kayla Nicole, who the 35-year-old NFL star dated from 2017 to 2022.

Fans think the lyrics, “You couldn’t understand it / Why you felt alone / You were in it for real / She was in her phone / And you were just a pose,” are about the on-air sports journalist.
This theory stems from a recently resurfaced video of the former couple bickering, with Kayla filming throughout.
Toward the end of the clip, Travis can be heard saying “Oh, my God. Get off your phone.”
Many Swifties have taken to X / Twitter to voice their opinions on the lyrics, saying they think it contains shade toward The Pre-Game with Kayla Nicole host, who some believe dated Travis for clout—hence the “you were just a pose” part of the song.
It’s worth noting that the title, “Opalite,” combines Travis‘ birthstones, opal and tourmaline (his birthday is October 5). The athlete has also said it is his favorite on the album, so it’s pretty likely the song is about him.
Taylor recently explained the true meaning behind “Actually Romantic,” which some believe is a Charli XCX diss track.
