Teenage social media star Zuza Beine has sadly died this week after her ongoing battle with acute myeloid leukemia.
Beine’s family took to her Instagram account on Tuesday, September 23 to announce her passing, saying, “It is with broken hearts that we share that Zuza died yesterday morning. She lived 11 of her 14 years with a relentless cancer, yet lived more fully and gratefully than most. Her being changed us forever, and her dying will too.”
Her family then touched on the legacy she was leaving behind.
“It is no coincidence to us that the last video she made captures what she was grateful for—a testament to a life filled with both beauty and suffering. More than anything, she wanted to be a normal, healthy kid. But what made her life so beautiful was how she learned to face the hardest circumstances, like her disease, and still live fully,” they continued in the post’s caption.
Fans expressed their devastation over her passing in the comments of the post. “I am so deeply sorry. My daughter and I have learned so much from Zuza’s videos and her journey. What a remarkable person she was. Sending love and prayers to your family,” one fan commented.
Even Beine’s favorite musician, Noah Kahan, commented his sympathies on the post. “We will never forget her. I’m heartbroken. It’ll forever be my favorite memory singing along with her backstage,” he wrote in the comments.
Beine was known online for being a source of positivity even through the ups and downs of her illness. She also strove to be a source of inspiration for others also suffering from severe and chronic illnesses.
Part of Beine striving to uplift others included her membership in The Glow House, an online content creation group comprised of her and other teen creators that focuses on beauty content and positivity.
They also took to their Instagram account to mourn Beine’s passing.
“We are heartbroken by the passing of our sweet friend, Zuza. To know her was to know true joy. She had the rare gift of being able to make anyone smile, bring humor into every room, and always remind us not to take life too seriously. No matter what she was going through, Zuza kept a smile on her face, one that lit up every space she walked into,” the group wrote in a September 25 post.
Aiming to care for others even in her passing, Beine had an unconventional final request for her followers. “In lieu of flowers, we know Zuza would want any donations to go toward her recently deceased uncle’s wife and children. You can donate to Lauren Stieber and her family through GoFundMe,” her family wrote at the end of her memorial post.
