Terri Irwin has shared an update after son Robert Irwin revealed his beloved dog Stella is in the middle of a health battle.
Robert, 21, revealed that vets found a cancerous mass in Stella’s body and they were waiting to hear results about “the full extent of the cancer”.
In her update, Terri, 61, said Stella “is getting the best care” but admitted “Robert is having a hard time being so far away from her.”

Robert is currently in the U.S. competing for the mirror ball trophy on Dancing With the Stars.
“Our dear little, squishy Stella has had surgery for two cancerous tumours,” Terri said in her Instagram post underneath pictures of the pet pooch.
“She came through the operation, so today we wait to find out if all the cancer was successfully removed.
“She is getting the best care with one of our friends, but I know Robert is having a hard time being so far away from her. Your prayers would be much appreciated 💕.”

One picture she shared was of Stella with a drip and bandage on her front leg.

Robert Irwin’s action-packed life in pictures
Earlier this week Robert revealed Stella’s health battle, underneath some black and white pictures of her.
“This is a tough one,” he wrote.
“I wanted to give an unfortunate update on my sweet little pup, Stella. A mass was discovered that ended up being cancerous. We still don’t know the full extent of the cancer. I have faith she’ll be in the clear.”
He went on to call her “my little bestie & one tough cookie”.
“She is such an important part of our little fam, so it’s been stressful to say the least being away from home and away from her while she goes through this,” he said.
“I know you guys love seeing her and I love sharing her with you so wanted to give an update… she is doing ok post-surgery so far, she’s my little bestie & one tough cookie. ❤️.”
Robert, who is the son of late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin, is dedicating his next dance on Dancing With the Stars to his mother Terri.
“It has been an emotional week in rehearsals,” he said in one post.
“I’ve been thinking a lot about my mum and her strength, I’ve been reminiscing on the times we’ve spent as a family and how she has kept my dad part of my life.
“This dance is for my mum, it’s for anyone who’s lost someone… and it’s for all the strong mothers of the world who deserve our recognition and appreciation ❤️.”
He’s competing on the American competition show with his professional dance partner Witney Carson, 31.
One of their dances from this season saw the pair perform a salsa, and in a bold move Robert ripped off his shirt mid-performance.
Robert scored a total of 22 points for the performance, placing himself into third place on the leaderboard.
Some Aussie fans of the show might recognise Carson, she danced with Aussie singer and swimmer Cody Simpson on the show’s 18th season.
