BOSTON – Highlighted by three-point performances from juniors Andrea Di Blasio and Lapo Romieri, the Boston University men’s soccer team opened the home schedule with a 3-1 victory over Brown Friday night.
Carrying momentum from last Friday’s 5-1 win at Charleston, the Terriers improve to 3-1, as the Bears (2-1) suffered their first loss of the season. All three BU goals came in the second half with Romieri striking first 40 seconds after taking the field for the first time and then assisting on freshman Austin Mobray’s goal in the 49th minute.
The preseason All-Patriot League honoree Di Blasio set up Romieri’s second goal of the season for the 1-0 lead and finished off sophomore Pharis Petrica’s service pass into the box at 64:36 for his first goal. The Bears applied pressure on BU with a successful 53rd-minute free kick but could not continue the rally thanks to senior Ben Alexander’s four saves.
BU will next open Patriot League play at Army West Point on Friday, Sept. 13, with a 6 p.m. start time.
