The person who was struck and killed by a shuttle bus on Albany Street in Boston on Oct. 6 has been identified as a 40-year-old man from Saudi Arabia, officials said.
The crash happened just before 8 a.m. near 774 Albany St., and Alhanouf Alhazzaa, a Saudi Arabian national, was pinned beneath the bus and declared dead at the scene, according to the Suffolk County district attorney’s office.
Investigators worked with the Saudi consulate in Boston to find and notify Alhazzaa’s family members, the district attorney’s office said.
The incident remains under investigation, the office said.
The shuttle runs between Boston University’s campuses, and “is owned and operated by our vendor, Academy Express,” according to Colin Riley, a spokesperson for Boston University.
Academy Express LLC issued a statement last week saying they were cooperating with Boston police investigators.
In a statement, Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden expressed his condolences to Alhazzaa’s family.
“I’m deeply sorry for the family’s loss and I’m grateful for the assistance of the Saudi consulate in helping put investigators in touch with Mr. Alhazzaa’s relatives,” Hayden said.
