A warm and dry stretch of weather takes hold this weekend, bringing a taste of summer back to southern New England.
Saturday will be bright with plenty of sunshine and highs near or just above 80, with comfortable humidity and light winds.

Sunday follows suit with another sunny and warm day, with highs again in the upper 70s to lower 80s.
A light sea breeze may keep the coastline a bit cooler, but overall it will feel unseasonably warm for the start of October. Nights will be mild, mainly in the 50s, with a few upper 40s in the cooler inland valleys.

The warm pattern continues into Monday and Tuesday with highs reaching the lower and middle 80s for many towns. Southwest winds will increase by Tuesday, with gusts between 20 and 30 miles per hour, adding to fire weather concerns given the ongoing dry stretch.
A cold front arrives Tuesday night into Wednesday, bringing a round of showers and perhaps a rumble of thunder. While this front will deliver some much needed rain, amounts look special with most spots likely staying under half an inch.

Behind the front, a big change arrives with temperatures tumbling into the 50s and 60s by Thursday and Friday, and nighttime lows dipping into the 30s and 40s.
Frost may even develop in the colder valleys as high pressure builds back in and keeps the region cool and dry to close out the week.
