Warmer weather is here to stay for Sunday. Next week, the coldest air of the season arrives. High pressure has Boston warm, sunny, and dry — for today. Sunday will be another beautiful day with plenty of sunshine and light winds. Highs climb into the low to mid 80s inland, with upper 70s to near 80 along the coast where a light sea breeze develops.
Sunday night stays clear and mild with lows in the 50s and low 60s. Monday continues the stretch of unseasonably warm weather with highs once again in the upper 70s to low 80s. Our normal high for this time of year is 67 degrees, but it’s fall in New England, which is always a roller coaster.
It will be breezier than Sunday, with gusts up to 20 miles per hour, and dry air could lead to elevated fire weather concerns, so be conscious to dispose of any ignition sources properly.
Tuesday will be the last warm day before a strong cold front arrives Tuesday night into Wednesday. Highs reach the upper 70s to near 80 during the day before showers move in Tuesday evening. The front will bring gusty winds and some much-needed rain, though totals may vary depending on how the system tracks.
Wednesday turns cooler and breezy with highs in the 60s and lingering showers. By Thursday and Friday, a much cooler and drier air mass settles in under high pressure, with daytime temperatures in the 50s and 60s and chilly nights in the 30s and 40s. The cool, crisp fall feel will last through the end of the week.
In the long range, New England has a favored pattern for seeing near and above normal temperatures beyond the 10 day forecast, although 80 degree days will be a bit of a stretch as the days get shorter.
