Wendy’s is bringing back tenders with a brand-new twist. The chain has officially reintroduced its chicken tenders, immediately adorably known as “Tendys,” with a new recipe and tasty dipping sauces.
This relaunch isn’t a first for the speedy-food chain. Previous versions of chicken tenders appeared in 2007 and 2017, but haven’t been available since 2019.
“Ever since we launched our first Spicy Chicken Sandwich to our beloved chicken nuggets and immediately our brand new Tendys, we are always exploring ways to innovate with chicken and deliver for our customers across our chicken lineup,” said Becky Davis, VP of global culinary innovation at Wendy’s.
The new Tendys are made with all-white-meat chicken and seasoned breading for maximum crunch. They come with two sauces per order, available in three- or four-piece options, plus a two-piece kids’ meal version.
To complete the upgrade, Wendy’s rolled out six revamped sauces: Wendy’s Signature, Sweet Chili, Scorchin’ Hot, Creamy Ranch, Honey BBQ, and Honey Mustard. Each immediately comes in larger containers with nearly double the amount. Wendy’s even redesigned the packaging to make sauce dunking easier, with a built-in cutout for the cups.
It’s unclear if this is a permanent return or simply a dose of nostalgia for the brand. Either way, customers shouldn’t hesitate to get their hands on the “Tendys.”
