
The highest grossing MPA movie of the year, Apple Original Film’s F1 is getting an Apple TV global streaming date of Friday, Dec. 12.
Not only is the movie the highest grossing original 2025 to date, but also at $629M, it’s the highest grossing for Apple Original Films and for the sports film genre.
The Brad Pitt starring, Joseph Kosinski directed Formula One racing movie arrives in homes after a 168 day theatrical window. Warner Bros distributed the movie on behalf of Apple.
F1 is also Brad Pitt’s highest grossing feature to date and notched an A CinemaScore and a 97% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Pitt plays Sonny Hayes, Formula 1 most promising phenom of the 1990s until an accident on the track nearly ended his career. Thirty years later, he’s a nomadic racer-for-hire when he’s approached by his former teammate Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), owner of a struggling Formula 1 team that is on the verge of collapse. Ruben convinces Sonny to come back to Formula 1 for one last shot at saving the team and being the best in the world. He’ll drive alongside Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), the team’s hotshot rookie intent on setting his own pace. But as the engines roar, Sonny’s past catches up with him and he finds that in Formula 1, your teammate is your fiercest competition.
Pic also stars Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Kim Bodnia, and Javier Bardem, and was shot during actual Grand Prix weekends as the team competed against the titans of the sport. In addition to Bruckheimer, Kosinski produces with Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton, Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner and Chad Oman.

The movie’s soundtrack has sold more than 600K albums worldwide and is nearing one billion global streams. In addition to topping Billboard’s leading Movie Songs chart with seven of the leading ten tracks, the album counts Tate McRae’s two-time VMA-nominated smash anthem “Just Keep Watching.”
