The winds are bringing quite a change to our weather here in Boston — in fact, many of us woke up to cool, crisp weather Wednesday morning thanks to a cold front that pushed through our area.
The northerly winds behind the front have been gusty, too. Gusts could get as high as 25 mph in Boston and up to 35-40 for the Cape and the Islands. The winds will keep afternoon high temperatures in the low to mid 60s Wednesday, down from the 70s and 80s we’ve had the past several days.

Also, practice fire safety Wednesday. An elevated fire danger is posted for much of Massachusetts due to a combination of gusty winds, dry ground fuels and low relative humidity.

If your travels are taking you to the coast into Thursday, stay out of the water! We’re seeing high surf and a high threat of rip currents due to a constant swell in the ocean from two tropical systems in the Atlantic, Humberto and Imelda. Our seas will calm a bit by the end of the week.

We’ll still feel the chill Thursday morning. In fact, a few inland suburbs could have patchy frost, with temperatures in the mid 30s. But in Boston, we’ll start the day with temperatures in the mid 40s. High temperatures will only reach the upper 50s and lower 60s. We’ll see plenty of sunshine.
By Friday into the weekend, we’ll warm up again. Highs will be in the low 70s on Friday. Then, by Saturday and Sunday, southerly winds will boost our temperatures into the upper 70s and lower 80s!
