One of the new faces in the approaching Bihar Election 2025 is folk singer Maithili Thakur. There have been circulating rumours that Thakur may run in the Bihar polls, most likely from the Alinagar seat in the Darbhanga area, after she met with Union Minister Nityanand Rai and BJP election in-charge Vinod Tawde.

On Sunday, Tawde posted pictures of his encounter with Thakur on his X account, stating that the singer and her family had departed Bihar in 1995, when Lalu Prasad Yadav was in power. He continued by saying that after witnessing the advancements the state has made, the same daughter immediately wishes to go back.
