According to the Basketball Hall of Fame website, Pierce recorded 26,397 points, 7,527 rebounds and 4,708 assists in the 19 seasons he played professionally. At the time of his retirement, he ranked in the best five in more than a dozen statistical categories for the Boston Celtics.

Pierce has remained in the spotlight since his retirement, and he recently served as a co-host of sports talk show Speak alongside Joy Taylor and Keyshawn Johnson. The show, which aired on Fox Sports, was canceled in July 2025.
Paul Pierce Was Arrested on Alleged DUI
Pierce was arrested on October 7, 2025, on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to state police.
After 10 p.m., California Highway Patrol officers responded to an unrelated car crash that involved multiple vehicles on the northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 101. Four of the six lanes were closed amid an investigation, and a Range Rover SUV that Pierce was driving was discovered parked on the highway once the road re-opened.
According to ABC News, officers saw Pierce asleep at the wheel and “noticed signs of alcohol impairment.” Officials then conducted a DUI investigation, and he was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of alcohol. The outlet added that the decision will be reviewed by the Los Angeles city attorney.
Paul Pierce Breaks Silence After DUI Arrest
The retired athlete broke his silence about the arrest in a Threads post on October 9, 2025, claiming that he simply fell asleep when the CHP closed lanes for nearly an hour to investigate the unrelated crash.

“Imagine being stuck in stand still traffic for 45 mins and falling asleep,” he wrote about the situation. “I took this picture that night because I never been in stand still traffic for this long.”
After sharing a photo that captured several rows of cars with their brake lights on, Pierce added, “I’m old, I’m tired, and I fell asleep. I’m good y’all thanks for the love.”
However, Pierce did not address the claims that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of his arrest.
