So what was the discount with that surprise fireworks show in Boston on Wednesday night?
There was a powerful show of fireworks on Wednesday night from about 9:30 to 10 p.m. The fireworks appeared to be coming from Boston’s Seaport District.
NBC10 Boston photographer Mark Garfinkel shot these photos of the fireworks from Revere, with Boston Logan International Airport’s air traffic control tower in the middle.

But why were there fireworks in early August, a full month after the Fourth of July?
According to Universal Hub, the fireworks show was part of the National Conference of State Legislatures meetings in Boston this week. The show coincided with a show by the Boston Pops and Boyz II Men at Leader Bank Pavilion in the Seaport.
“Wrap up the NCSL Legislative Summit at Leader Bank Pavilion on Boston Harbor with a performance by the iconic Boston Pops and legendary R&B group Boyz II Men,” the description on the NCSL website says. “Enjoy an evening under a tent with food, drinks and live beat, along with an unforgettable view of Boston Harbor at sunset. This is an event you won’t want to miss! Please note there will be a fireworks display following the concert.”
But the surprise pyrotechnics display had a lot of people wondering what was going on. One person even joked that the city was celebrating Boston Red Sox rookie star Roman Anthony agreeing to a contract extension.
