Body Copy: War 2 marks the debut of Jr. NTR in Hindi films, and this alone created massive hype for the biggie, which also features Hrithik Roshan and Kiara Advani in lead roles. There is no denying that War 2’s box office numbers have been affected by the arrival of Rajinikanth’s Coolie, which was released on the same day of August 14, 2025.

War 2 amasses Rs 43 crore
War 2 completed its first weekend at the box office, clocking close to Rs 150 crore as per trade reports. However, there’s a decline in Telugu collections. War 2 made Rs 23 crore net on day one, which is a record for any dubbed Hindi film in Telugu. Thanks to NTR’s popularity, the Ayan Mukerji directorial opened with a bang, but with weak word of mouth, the numbers dropped drastically. The film collected just Rs 13 crore net on day two and sank further on day three with only Rs 7 crore in the Telugu states. With this, the total collections in Telugu crossed Rs 43 crore, clearly showing how occupancy has been falling with each passing show. While weekend occupancy was decent, weekdays are expected to be tough, which may spell curtains for the action drama.
A lot riding of War 2
The theatrical rights for War 2 were sold at a record rate, but with its current performance in Telugu, heavy losses look inevitable. On the other hand, Coolie is performing better in Telugu, with Lokesh Kanagaraj’s film featuring Nagarjuna, the superstar of Telugu cinema, in a negative role. Both War 2 and Coolie opened to strong numbers, but that alone may not be enough for the distributors to break even. A lot of money is riding on both these films, and the coming days will reveal where these films ultimately stand at the box office.
