EXCLUSIVE: David DeLuise (Wizards of Waverly Place) and Lindsey Shaw (Pretty Little Liars) are among cast for D.J. Hale’s directorial debut Rescued, in which he also stars.
The film charts the story of an unhoused man whose once-stable life is obliterated by gambling and alcohol addiction. His life takes a profound turn when he forms an unlikely bond with a stray dog. First look images are below.
RSA Entertainment and Starshooter Entertainment are behind the feature, which also stars Elissa Kapneck and Gianna Gomez.
Pic is written and directed by D.J. Hale and executive-produced by Gina Nuccio, Stephanie McNulty, and Dominique R. Smith. Shot entirely on location in Long Beach, California, the film features an original score by UK composer Rory Laws.
“We are thrilled to bring Rescued to audiences,” said Gina Nuccio, CEO of RSA Entertainment. “This film reflects RSA’s commitment to stories that spark awareness and drive positive change.”
“This story began when a disheveled, unhoused man asked, ‘How you doin’?’” said writer-director-actor D.J. Hale. “My quick, brushed-off response ‘I’m okay’ lingered with me—my troubles felt so small beside his. That pivotal moment became the inspiration for this film.”
