YouTubers Dan and Phil are revealing what it has been like to share their romantic relationship with the world in their new podcast Hard Launch with Dan and Phil.
The stars, who are known individually as Dan Howell and Phil Lester, confirmed they had been dating since 2009 in a video published earlier this month. Speculation that the two were together has been swirling for years, but this is the first time they’ve publicly confirmed it.
“We fell into it hard and quick in 2009 and here we are almost 16 years later,” Dan said.

“Can I say posting that video felt like a huge relief?” Dan said to Phil on the new podcast’s first episode, “I just felt like a weight had been lifted. I was worried I was gonna post it, or we were gonna post it and be like, ‘Oh, no. We’ve made a huge mistake.’”
“No putting this back in the can,” Phil agreed.
In response to fan reactions, Dan joked, “Obviously, people have processed the news that Dan and Phil have had launched in different ways personally, and very few of them were sincere because the memes were too good.”
“Actually, I feel like if people were saying beautiful, articulate things, it just got buried under hilarity,” he added.
