Black Friday clothing sales are officially starting from today. I know, I can’t believe it’s here either. As a fashion writer who has been covering Cyber Week for eight years, even I’ll admit it can be tricky (read: fatiguing) to decipher the good deals from the ‘meh’ – especially when a lot of them start this early – but I’m definitely trying to shop more sustainably during this year’s event, so I’m looking to fill some wardrobe gaps by seeking out key pieces that’ll actually last. Easier said than done, I know.
Though we’re just over two weeks away from Black Friday itself, unless you’ve been under a rock, you’ll have noticed a lot of your favourite brands are holding early Black Friday/warm-up sales. And pro tip, a lot of these are just as good as the real offer.

If you are tempted to hold out though, and I don’t blame you (just don’t shoot the messenger if things sell out in your size by then), I recommend you keep an eye on the prices of items you know you’re likely to shop from today, that way you truly know if you’re getting a good offer or not.
Some brands have been known to only reduce their collections slightly in the past – anything less than 20% is just cruel, in my opinion. In more recent years, where there are so many reductions happening across multiple categories (see the best Black Friday beauty deals, best Black Friday mattress deals and best Black Friday sex toy deals for proof), there’s more competition among retailers. And that’s always a nice problem to have.
Whether you’ve been swooning over a winter coat or pair of winter boots that are just a tad over budget, are in desperate need of a new work bag or laptop backpack for your commute, or you’re keen to elevate your knitwear or jewellery collection, the time to strike is today.
It’s also arguably the best time to pick up a few of the best Christmas gifts for less, too, so bear that in mind while you’re browsing for yourself.
