No one was in custody after a student was stabbed at a Boston high school Wednesday afternoon, officials said.
Officers responded to Madison Park High School on Malcolm X Boulevard in Roxbury around noon Wednesday, where a 17-year-old boy had a minor, non-life threatening stab wound, according to Boston police.
The boy was stabbed in a common hallway inside the school, according to the police’s preliminary investigation. He was taken to the hospital, a spokesperson for Boston Public Schools said.
At the school, BPS Safety Services, officers, and EMS immediately responded, according to BPS. Madison Park, the district’s only vocational school, and the neighboring John D. O’Bryant School were both “briefly” placed in safe mode, the spokesperson said.
“The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority, and we are taking this incident very seriously,” the BPS spokesperson said. “Our district crisis response team will be at the school today and for the rest of the week to support our school community.”
The suspect fled from the school, police said, and no one has been arrested. Neither the police or the school district confirmed whether the altercation was between students.
The investigation is active and ongoing, police said.
