In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, Mahesh Bhatt praised Mohit and spoke about the film’s impact. “It makes me so happy. Simba’s roar has outdone Mufasa’s,” he said. “He’s my sister’s son, completely self-made, but I always remind him not to get too comfortable. Hits come, flops come—we learn from both.”
Comparisons with Aashiqui
Mahesh has previously addressed comparisons between Saiyaara and his iconic Aashiqui series. “Every generation has a love story that defines it. Saiyaara, to me, will be the defining romantic film of this generation. When I made Aashiqui, it was with pure emotion, and it turned newcomers into overnight stars. I expect Mohit to do the same with Saiyaara,” he remarked. He continued, “It’s wonderful to see audiences feel a sense of nostalgia from Aashiqui while watching Saiyaara. But this film will redefine romance for today’s generation. Every generation must surpass the previous one, and I couldn’t be happier if Mohit surpasses me in every way.”
