
Marco Abbiati — aka @mychristmasinnewyorkcity has a cult following for a reason.
For the past few years during the holidays, Marco tracks down the famous Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, giving his followers exclusive updates on where it’s from, when it’s being cut, and when it will finally make its way to New York City.
On October 27, he gave fans their first glimpse of this year’s tree, writing, “This year’s 75-foot Norway Spruce comes from the Russ family home. It weighs 11 tons, measures 45 feet in diameter, and was planted more than 60 years ago — a true Christmas icon in the making.”
In the same post, he updated fans on what would be happening to the famous tree, adding, “Starting today, the tree will be carefully packed and prepared for its journey to New York City, where it will arrive on the morning of Saturday, November 8th, for Meet the Tree Day 2025.”
He also reminded fans that the event is free and open to anyone who wants to attend. “The event is free and open to everyone, no tickets needed — just head to Rockefeller Plaza early to enjoy the excitement (and maybe spot Santa! 🎅🏼).”
On November 5, Abbiati shared another update, posting a photo of the stunning tree and writing:“‼️ READY 🤩 The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree is all packed and wrapped, ready for the Tree Cutting Ceremony tomorrow 🌲 This is LIVE from East Greenbush, New York 🎅🏼 Isn’t she beautiful?! 🤩”
Marco also shared a full timeline of what’s next for the tree, including key dates for each event:
- November 6: Tree Cutting Ceremony in East Greenbush
- November 8: Tree Arrival Ceremony in NYC
- November 8 – December 3: Decoration phase
- December 3: Tree Lighting Ceremony
His thorough update also included footage of crews working on getting the tree ready.
In terms of the Christmas tree lighting ceremony he told his fans, “The Lighting Ceremony will take place on December 3rd 🎄 A full post will be published soon here on @MyChristmasinNewYorkCity with all details, times, and tips to experience it in the best way!🕐 Once lit, the tree will shine every day from 5AM to midnight, stay lit 24 hours on Christmas Eve, and until 9PM on New Year’s Eve 💫”.
