The September issue of Vogue España is a veritable posi-mecca, with Amelia Gray, the hottest model today, exhibiting the fall fashion trends’ fearless transition. A perfect interpretation of Chanellian guerrilla tactics: crimson-on-crimson tweed paired with an arsenal of gloves and jewelry that have been crafted with various textures to amplify the look for the magazine moving away from quiet luxury, which it dubs “boom boom.” Her dynamic, confident pose-one hand on her hip, the other straight onto her chin-puts this cover very high on the “hard to ignore” list.

The issue portrays Gray’s thoughts on feminism, mental health, and her experience of unusual circumstances in growing up in a high-profile family (her mother is Lisa Rinna; her father is Harry Hamlin). Further than the viewpoints articulated in the interview, even the cover alone has started a wave of reactions.
The fans flooded the comment section. One commented, “Finally! A cover done right!” Another commented plainly: “This is what Vogue needs to look like.” Her effortless glamour contrasted with the magazine’s bold aesthetic transition.
One skeptic seemed unmoved, musing, “Who is this? Seems like everyone’s a model these days.” A supporter, however, retaliated, “Kate Moss will always be the best model—no one compares.” With that, the debate about who is really fronting modern modeling ensued. But the chorus started with Gray’s supporters chanting, “She IS the moment.”
Shot by Sean & Seng and styled by Harry Lambert, the cover shoot is a lustful visual riot-loud, luxe, and unapologetically chic. A far cry from understated elegance that resided in past seasons, and that is exactly the statement Vogue España wants to make: fashion is back, and it is not whispering.
That cover says a whole lot about culture, far more than it does about clothes. She has, of course, never been out of the spotlight, being the daughter of famous parents, but this marks her coronation as a bona fide fashion powerhouse in her own right. The interview promises to drag some layers from the public façade, yet much has been said about that image already: confidence, power, a tad bit of rebelliousness, and of course, all wrapped up in Chanel.

September hits outlets on August 19, and judging by the cover alone; this should very well be one of this season’s most talked-about releases. Whether it is the fashion angle, feminism, or just for the star power of Amelia Gray, really this is one magazine you can’t miss.
