Despite the already long list of returning MCU stars in Avengers: Doomsday, don’t expect Andrew Garfield to swing by for a cameo.
Although Marvel stars are usually sworn to secrecy about their involvement in a project, the 2x Oscar nominee left no confusion about whether or not he and Tobey Maguire would be back as Spider-Man in the upcoming superhero team-up, premiering Dec. 18, 2026.
“No, unequivocally fucking no,” said Garfield while answering fan questions in a video for GQ.
Following his tenure as Peter Parker in Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) and its 2014 sequel, Garfield joined predecessor Maguire in reprising their shared role alongside Tom Holland in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).
Garfield had to outright deny his involvement in the movie back then for the sake of avoiding spoilers, but since its release, he’s said he “would 100% come back” for another round as Peter Parker. He’s also noted the project “would have to be very weird,” referencing the “creative freedom” of the animated Spider-Verse films.
In January, Garfield told GQ‘s UK counterpart not to expect him in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day either. “I’m gonna disappoint you. Yeah, no. But I know no one’s gonna trust anything I say from immediately on,” he said, referencing his previous denial about appearing in No Way Home.
