CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College men’s golf team returns this weekend, as it travels west to Hampden, Mass., to compete in the UConn Invitational at GreatHorse.
The Eagles are coming off a two-week break from the Bryan National Collegiate, where the team finished 11th of 14 teams. Junior Markus Lam paced the team with a 12th-place finish at 1-over par, while freshman Tony Yin finished in a tie for 29th at 7-over par.
The team ended last year’s UConn Invitational in fourth place at 17-over par. Senior Jack Pogorelc led the Eagles, tying for 11th at 4-over par, while Lam tied for 32nd at 10-over par. Both players are the only two on this year’s roster who have previously competed in this event.
The 15-team field, all from the Northeast Region, will play 18 holes each day from Sunday through Tuesday. Boston College will tee off from the 10th hole on Sunday, beginning from 9:20 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., and will be playing alongside Rhode Island and Sacred Heart.
GreatHorse is a premier course set among the rolling hills of Western Massachusetts, offering a championship layout of over 7,600 yards from the most demanding tees. The course, redesigned by Brian Silva, features countless bunkers, dramatic elevation changes, and lush fairways framed by natural wetlands and fescue grasses.
Former BC golfer Matt Naumec still holds the course record at GreatHorse, carding a 65.
