CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Boston College defeated Hampton, 63-52, Tuesday night on the Edgerley Family Court at Conte Forum. Fred Payne led the charge for the Eagles with a game-high 14 points, as the team never surrendered the lead in the contest.
FIRST HALF
FIRST HALF
- Payne scored three of BC’s first four baskets – including a three-pointer from the right corner – to put the Eagles up 9-6 at the first media timeout
- Jason Asemota and Marko Radunovic added three-pointers of their own, extending the lead to double digits (21-9) with 11 minutes remaining in the half
- BC held Hampton scoreless for over five minutes of action, opening the door for the 10-0 surge that included Asemota and Radunovic’s triples
- Up by nine, the Eagles used a timeout with 1:53 remaining, setting up a play that led to a dunk by Boden Kapke
- Asemota beat the buzzer with a corner three-pointer just before halftime
- The Eagles led 37-26 at the break
- Payne was the only player to notch double figures in the first half
SECOND HALF
- The Eagles opened the half with an electrifying alley-oop slam by Aidan Shaw, assisted by Payne in transition
- With 9:35 remaining, Donald Hand Jr. finished through contact on a fastbreak, ending a field goal drought and extending the lead to 52-34
- Hampton had missed six of its last seven shot attempts heading into the 7:36 media timeout
- The Eagles never relinquished the lead in the game and maintained a double-digit advantage through the final buzzer

- Two Eagles finished in double figures: Payne (14) and Kapke (10)
- Luka Toews recorded eight points (season high) and four assists (tying his career high)
- Shaw, who has recorded at least eight rebounds in every game this season, corralled a game-high eight boards
