Ben Napier and Erin Napier aren’t renovating their home rules.
Indeed, the HGTV stars revealed they may have an unpopular parenting move when it comes to teaching their daughters Helen, 7, and Mae, 4, how to celebrate their birthdays.
“Our rule is,” Ben, 41, told Today in an interview published on Sept. 9, “until they’re old enough to plan it themselves, it’s supper at grandparents.”
Erin echoed the sentiment, noting she’d rather their kids have a small get together than a jam-packed extravaganza.
“If your 4-year-old’s birthday rave looks like a wedding, what do they have to look forward to?” the 40-year-old explained in the joint interview. “Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I think there’s a lot of moms out there who feel the same way I do.”
