The Celtics have two starters listed on the injury report ahead of their 8 p.m. Saturday game against the Rockets. Derrick White (bilateral neck stiffness) and Payton Pritchard (left ankle sprain) are both probable for the game. Jayson Tatum remains out with his Achilles injury.
Pritchard and White have been consistent starters for the Celtics to open the season. The probable designation shows that they’re likely to play Saturday. Both guards have had slow shooting starts to the season as they’ll look to climb out of their respective slumps.
The Rockets have a pair of players listed for Saturday’s game in Fred VanVleet (torn ACL) and Dorian Finney-Smith (ankle surgery). Neither player has seen the court this season as it’s unclear when they could be back. VanVleet is expected to miss the entire year.
The Celtics are on a three-game winning streak, coming off a narrow victory over the 76ers on Friday in NBA Cup play. They’ve climbed out of their 0-3 start to get to 3-3 on the year.
The Rockets are also on a win streak, getting their last two games. They’re currently 2-2 on the season. Former Celtics coach Ime Udoka’s squad is expected to make noise this season after trading for Kevin Durant over the summer. Houston is also a physically big team, so the Celtics will need to be aggressive on the glass all night.
