Boston’s mayor and superintendent announced plans on Monday to close or reconfigure six schools to create a better learning experience for students and their families.That includes the proposed closures of Lee Academy Pilot School, Another Course to College, and Community Academy of Science and Health.Three other schools will undergo significant changes. Henderson K-12 Inclusion School will shift to a Pre-K to 8 school, Tobin Elementary will eliminate grades seven and eight, and William E. Russell School will reconfigure from Pre-K to grade five to Pre-K to grade six.The mayor and superintendent held a Zoom meeting to discuss the proposed changes, which are planned for the 2027-28 school year.”What we think of is getting a student into a better experience, one that is really going to fulfill our commitment to them academically and with greater opportunity,” Superintendent Mary Skipper said. The closures and changes will be presented to the Boston School Committee for a vote this Wednesday.
