
KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kwik Trip Holiday Face-off schedule is set, with Western Michigan slated to play Boston College in the opening round of the tournament on Dec. 28.
Wisconsin and Lake Superior State will battle in the other matchup. The two winners will meet for the championship on Dec. 29.
This is WMU’s first time playing in the event, but the Broncos do have history against each of the three opponents. The Broncos and Eagles met for the first time last season in Chestnut Hill. BC was able to come away with a 4-2 victory.
Lake Superior State and WMU have a longer history, playing 135 times all-time. WMU has 49 wins in the series. Western Michigan and Wisconsin have played eight times, with the last meeting coming in 2005. The Broncos have three wins against the Badgers all-time.
Western Michigan is coming off a historic 2024-25 season, capturing the program’s first National Championship along with the Penrose Cup and NCHC Frozen Faceoff championship. The Broncos posted a 34-7-1 overall record and 19-4-1 mark in league play. The Brown and Gold closed the season with 10 consecutive victories.
Western Michigan opens its season with a home exhibition game against the USNTDP on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 6 PM. The regular season opener is set for Thursday, Oct. 9 against Ferris State. Puck drop is slated for 7 PM at Lawson Arena.
