Police responded to an encampment of pro-Palestinian protesters at Boston University Monday evening.
NBC10 Boston witnessed at least six tents being put up on campus, with dozens of demonstrators present near the George Sherman Union building.
Boston University police officers surrounded the protest and could be heard ordering people to disperse or else face arrest. Members of the group appeared to disperse peacefully shortly after 8 p.m.
A spokesperson told NBC10 Boston that the protest was in violation of Boston University’s rules.
“This encampment is not in line with the University’s standards,” the spokesperson said in a statement to NBC10 Boston. “There are consequences for violations of the Code of Student responsibilities and demonstrations policy.”
