The Celtics didn’t have to wait long to see the 76ers again, but their second matchup in 10 days has a little more on the line.
Boston travels to Philadelphia for its group stage opener of the 2025 NBA Cup, an in-season tournament launched in 2023. The contest counts towards the Green’s regular-season record, and it is not as a single-elimination opportunity. The C’s will also face the Magic, Nets and Pistons in Group B play over the next month.
Joe Mazzulla’s team dropped its season-opener against Philadelphia on Oct. 22, a contest in which the C’s held a double-digit lead in the fourth quarter. Boston, however, will enter Friday’s game with some momentum after earning consecutive wins against the Pelicans and Cavaliers.
