“The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and immediately, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!” wrote President Trump on Truth Social.
The conservative media personality was reportedly about 20 minutes into his presentation in front of students when shots were heard from a nearby building.
His final words were related to violence in response to a mass shooters question. His comments on gun deaths recently resurfaced in the wake of the news.
Charlie often went to colleges with his Turning Point USA to debate students, in a “mission is to identify, educate, train, and organize students to promote the principles of fiscal responsibility, free markets, and exclusive government,” per their official site.
He was known for his outspoken views on politics, and was the host of The Charlie Kirk Show, a daily radio show.
He was born in Illinois and began his political career as a teen, rising up in the conservative movement and becoming a speaker at political events like CPAC. He was also a vocal supporter of President Donald Trump.
Our thoughts are with Charlie Kirk‘s loved ones at this difficult time. He is survived by his wife and kids.
