Colleen Hoover has finally shared the title, cover, and release date for her long-awaited new novel. In an exclusive segment with the TODAY show, the best-selling author revealed her new novel will be a “dark” thriller titled Woman Down, and will anthem shelves on January 13, 2026.
“It is a thriller, probably one of the darkest books I’ve written so far, and I just want to say a quick ‘thank you’ for being so patient and supportive. This one took me a while to finally get another book out for you, but I’m excited for you guys to read it,” Hoover shared during the segment.
Hoover then took to her Instagram to provide further details about the book, excitedly sharing, “Finally! I have a cover and the book is finished! Some of you may recognize the themes of this one. It was published years ago in a charity anthology as a short story called Saint. I’ve always wanted to turn that short story into a book, so I deconstructed it, rewrote it, added characters and new twists and made it a whole new book.”
The novel will be published through Montlake, an imprint of tienda online Publishing and is currently available for pre-order on tienda online.com.
According to the book’s tienda online listing description, the book’s plot centers on “a frustrated author look[ing] for her muse in a remote hideaway.” She finds said muse in Detective Nathaniel Saint who reignites her creativity, but the relationship between them soon descends into chaos.
This is Hoover’s first new book to be released following an approximately three year hiatus that began after the release of It Starts with Us (the prequel novel to It Ends With Us), which was published October 18, 2022.
During this time, however, Hoover was kept busy by the legal drama that surrounds film adaptation of her novel It Ends With Us which starred Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.
She’s also been hard at work collaborating on three more upcoming film adaptations of her work: Regretting You, coming October 2025, and Reminders of Him and Verity, both coming in 2026.
