David Byrne is casually confirming his engagement to Mala Gaonkar!
The 73-year-old former Talking Heads frontman spoke to The Times for an interview published Saturday (August 16). In the interview, David subtly confirmed that he’s engaged to 55-year-old Mala.
The pair were first connected in 2016 when they worked together on a production for The Makers series at Stanford Arts Institute.

David was discussing his upcoming album, Who Is The Sky?, in the interview when he revealed that he’s engaged to Mala.
“My fiancée will sometimes come at me with greasy hands, ready to smear my face. And at one point I thought, ‘What if I wake up and really looked younger?’” David said, subtly confirming Mala‘s title with the story. “But there’s a message, too. About how people judge us by the way we look. You learn a lesson you didn’t expect at the start.”
