Remy Ma has hip hop buzzing again after her verse on Connie Diiamond’s new track “Head Tap.” While the song itself is packed with gritty punchlines, fans quickly focused in on a few bars that sound like they could be directed at boxing superstar Claressa Shields.
The first line that raised eyebrows was:
“You number two and you mad I’m the one, b*h.”**
Listeners took this as a possible jab at Shields, who is widely regarded as the leading women’s boxer in the world. The lyric sets up a competition narrative — suggesting someone is frustrated about not being “the one.”
Then came another eyebrow-raising bar:
“Why would I fight you when I got a gun, shorty?”
That metaphor banger differently because it seemed to play off Shields’ identity as a fighter. Instead of stepping into the ring, Remy flips it street, signaling she wouldn’t even bother boxing her opponent.
Nowhere in the verse does Remy actually say Claressa’s name. But the timing, the choice of words, and the tone are why fans are convinced this was more than just a random set of bars. Social media has been split: some say it’s definitely aimed at Shields, while others argue the internet is simply reaching.
