Diddy has spoken directly to the court just one day before his sentencing, taking full responsibility for the choices that led to his current situation.
In a four-page letter filed Thursday, Diddy opened with, “First and foremost, I want to apologize and say how sincerely sorry I am for all of the hurt and pain that I have caused others by my conduct. I take full responsibility and accountability for my past wrongs.”
He admits the past two years have been the hardest of his life, writing, “There is no one to blame for my current reality and situation but myself.”
Reflecting on his time in prison, Diddy said, “Pain has become my teacher,” and that his “downfall was rooted in his selfishness.”
Addressing the video where he assaulted Cassie, Diddy wrote, “I was dead wrong for putting my hands on the woman that I loved. I’m sorry for that and always will be.”
On witness testimony from “Jane,” he added, “Your honor, I thought I was providing for Jane concerning her and her child, but after hearing her testimony, I realized that I hurt her. For this I am deeply sorry.”
He revealed he’s sober for the first time in 25 years, wants to be a better father, and care for his elderly mother, who just had brain surgery.
Diddy also described poor prison conditions and said, “I fear losing my life.” He closed with, “I ask you to allow me another chance to live a better life.”
Sentencing is set for Friday. Prosecutors want 11 years. Diddy’s hoping for time served plus 14 months.
