Donna Kelce showed some love for her future daughter-in-law, Taylor Swift, during Monday Night Football.
Kelce, 72, arrived at the Kansas City Chiefs game against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Everbank Stadium on Monday, October 6, rocking her signature Chiefs jersey featuring son Travis Kelce’s name and number.
This time, however, Donna added a special memento in honor of Swift — a white baseball cap that featured a drawing of the pop star, 35, prominently on the front. The hat also included several nods to Swift and her die-hard fans, and in addition to several — of course — friendship bracelets. (Travis and Swift announced their engagement last month.)
Donna wore the same cap when she, Travis, 36, and other members of the Kelce clan went to see The Official Release rave of a Showgirl together on Sunday, October 5.
The decision for Donna to wear a Swift-themed article of clothing comes days after Swift released her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, which dropped on Friday, October 3.
Donna also showed her love for Swift’s new album by including her new song “Opalite” in her tribute to Travis in honor of his birthday. Ahead of the release of Swift’s 12th record, Travis shared that “Opalite” was his favorite track. Swift later confirmed the tune was, indeed, her fiancé’s favorite.
“He loves that one,” the pop star said of Travis during a Friday interview on the U.K.’s Capital FM radio station. “I have favorite words, favorite phrases [and] things I’ll put in an endless file of lyrics that I’m constantly going to go and cherry-pick from when I’m writing.”
Swift also touched on the deeper meaning behind “Opalite” and how it has a direct connection to Travis.
“Opal can be man-made just like diamonds, and so, Travis’ birthstone is an opal,” she shared. “I’ve always fixated on that, [and] I’ve always loved that stone. I thought it was kind of a cool metaphor that, like, it’s a man-made opal and happiness can also be man-made, too. That’s what the song is about, the juxtaposition of those two.”
