Kaantha Vs Dies Irae Box Office Collection Day 3: Kaantha, starring Dulquer Salmaan, was released in theaters on November 14, 2025. Directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, the period drama received mixed but mostly positive reviews from audiences and critics. In its first three days of release, the film grossed approximately Rs 13.85 crore at the all-India box office, according to a report by Sacnilk. While this collection is considered decent, it is still slightly lower than expected. Interestingly, Dulquer Salmaan’s Kaantha failed to surpass Pranav Mohanlal’s film Dies Irae in its opening weekend. According to the same report, the horror thriller Dies Irae, directed by Rahul Sadasivam, had a net collection of Rs 16.75 crore in its first three days. Despite receiving positive reviews, Kaantha failed to reach this level. Surprisingly, Kaantha received more hype and buzz before its release than Dies Irae. Dulquer Salmaan’s powerful performance has been widely praised, but the film failed to make a big splash at the box office. Meanwhile, Dies Irae is earning record-breaking revenue despite minimal publicity.

Speaking of the story, Kaantha is directed by Salvamani and produced by Dulquer Salmaan and Rana Daggubati under their respective companies—Wayfarer Films and Spirit Media. The film is set in 1950s Madras. Dulquer Salmaan plays T.K. Mahadevan, a major superstar of the era. He is shooting Saantha, the first Tamil horror film, with his mentor and director Ayya (Samuthirakani). However, ego clashes begin between the two, which gradually become dangerous for those close to them. The film’s lead female character, Kumari, is played by Bhagyashree Borse, an ambitious young woman struggling to find work in the film industry. Rana Daggubati plays Phoenix, a police inspector. The film was originally scheduled for a different release date, but had to be postponed due to Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra.
