MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The No. 11/10 Boston College men’s hockey team earned its first win of the season on Thursday evening, defeating No. 12/12 Minnesota by a score of 3-1 at 3M Arena at Mariucci. Will Vote, Will Moore, and Drew Fortescue lit the lamp for the Eagles, while Louka Cloutier made 18 saves.
Boston College improves to 1-1-0 on the season while Minnesota drops to 1-2-0.
BC opened the scoring with just under six minutes remaining in the first period. From the blue line, Radivojevic fired the puck towards goal and after it ricocheted off of Sondreal, fell right to Vote in front of goal with enough time to calmly go five-hole on the Minnesota goaltender to put the Eagles up 1-0.
Minnesota responded with 1:01 to go in the first when Brody Lamb was able to get a shot off from the right faceoff circle through the BC defense and past Cloutier.
The Eagles regained the lead late in the second period when Moore, from the net front, was able to redirect a Lukas Gustafssonshot from the blue line into the back of the net.
After Minnesota pulled its goaltender in the final few minutes, Fortescue pushed the lead to two with an empty net goal with 24 seconds remaining.
Cloutier made eight saves in the second period and six in the third to claim his first win in his first start.
