A fight near a liquor store in Fall River, Massachusetts, escalated to a shooting that left one man dead Saturday night.
The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office announced Sunday that it was investigating Taiquan Teixeira’s death as a homicide.
The 31-year-old Fall River resident was found unresponsive and with a gunshot wound by Fall River police officers who had responded to a 911 call around 4:30 p.m. for a report of men fighting in the area of Leonard’s Package Store, officials said. Teixeira was taken from the scene near 1331 Pleasant Street to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a few hours later.
Further information has not been released, including if anyone has been arrested, or what the fight was about.
State and local police, along with the district attorney’s office, are continuing to investigate what occurred.
