New track Friday is shaping up to be one for the books, with several key figures dropping albums.
First up is Gunna with his long-awaited project, “The Last Wun.” The 25-song tracklist keeps it simple, featuring just five guest appearances from Offset, Burna Boy, Wizkid, Nechie, and Asake. The album made headlines before its release, as it’s reportedly Gunna’s final album on Young Thug’s YSL label. Days ago, Thugger seemingly threw shade at his former musician and friend, tweeting, “Nobody wunna hear that sh*t.” However, that has not deterred day-one Gunna fans, who are hailing “The Last Wun” online. It’s unclear where Gunna will end up label-wise or if he’ll remain independent, but the drip is alive and well on this standout album.
JID made his triumphant return with the album “God Does Like Ugly.” The lyricist is making a strong case for rapper of the year in 2025, with the project oozing sharp wordplay and undeniable creative edge. Records such as “YouUgly” and “Community” tackle Black artistry and gentrification, while “VCRs” and “K-Word” touch on critiques of wealth and poetic visions of karma. Closing out with “For Keeps,” JID reiterates his gratitude and grind, proving that a decade into his career, his appetite for success is only growing stronger.
BigXThaPlug also returned with a brand-new single alongside country singer Ella Langley. Continuing his streak into the genre, “Hell At Night” appears to serve as a precursor to his forthcoming album, “I Hope You’re Happy,” which arrives on August 22nd.
Elsewhere, K Camp dropped a summer-enthused anthem, “Early Morning,” alongside Ty Dolla Sign and Chase Shakur, while Young Nudy blessed his fanbase with “Paradise,” his new full body of work filled with Atlanta flows. No matter your taste, there is plenty of heat to choose from.
