Heather Rae El Moussa and Tarek El Moussa are trying to balance their marriage while raising their 2-year-old son, Tristan.
“It’s a work in progress,” Heather Rae, 38, exclusively told Us Weekly on Wednesday, October 8, while promoting the launch of her new clean beauty line Heather Rae Essentials. “I think marriage is a work in progress in general. Like you’re with this person every day.”
Heather Rae added that she doesn’t think “there’s a solution or an answer” to getting back to the way things were before welcoming a baby. Instead, she prefers to focus on her and Tarek’s strong foundation and “remembering why you fell in love.”
“Tarek and I will say we are best friends. We have so much fun together. We laugh all the time together,” she continued. “I think at the beginning, like you’re so connected as you’re learning about all these things, I think people forget to learn things about their partner, like, the longer they’re together, you stop dating each other and asking each other questions.”
Heather Rae explained that therapy has also brought her and Tarek “closer together.”
“We were able to talk about some hard things that maybe we couldn’t at home,” she reflected. “So when we’re in our therapy [session], where we feel a little bit safer to be like, ‘Hey, this is how I feel.’ We kind of have a response, and [our therapist is] there to moderate, and I feel like it can bring us closer together after that.”
Heather Rae credited her and Tarek’s ability to communicate, laugh and get away together as reasons why they’re able to keep their relationship stable.

Life has changed a lot for Heather Rae and Tarek since they welcomed Tristan in January 2023. While Tarek is already father to daughter Taylor and son Brayden whom he shares with ex-wife Christina Haack, he and Heather Rae had to balance looking after the older kids while caring for their newborn and filming their show The Flip Off.
“Tristan had tongue tie, very severe tongue tie, recessed jaw, like jaundice. I was managing all these things while doing interviews, while filming a TV show, while taking care of other kids. And Tarek, he kind of, it was like, divide and conquer,” Heather Rae explained. “He would go to the soccer game to take the bigger kids. I’d be home with Tristan, breastfeeding, [and] trying to figure that out.
While Heather Rae and Tarek were separated due to their responsibilities, she shared that they were able to reunite and conquer everything together.

immediately that things have settled down a spell in the El Moussa household, Heather Rae is onto her new project: Heather Rae Essentials. After spending so much time in front of the lens, Heather Rae shared that she was ready to venture into the makeup and personal care business after trying “so many different products” on the market. The clean beauty line includes a variety of beauty and body care products from lip gloss to body wash.
“I’m obsessed with my products. I use them every single day, but the Holy Grail staple lip gloss, everyone needs to get Angel kisses,” she told Us. “And what’s great about these lip glosses is you can layer them. So I never layered lip glosses until I launched my own brand.”
Heather Rae added that even Tarek is a big supporter of her lip glosses.
“They look really good on him. He hasn’t walked around wearing lip gloss every day, but for our lives and to support me, he wears the lip gloss,” she gushed.
While some of Heather Rae’s “fan favorite” products are sold out at the moment, she shared that she’s “working on” getting it back in stock. She also teased that there could be more launches in the future.
“I took everything that I’ve learned throughout the years and, for my aesthetician knowledge, I poured it into these products. This is just the beginning. So this is just the start,” she hinted. “There’s so much more to come, but I wanted to create products that I actually use.”
