With the last day of the month on Tuesday, the forecast is calling for slightly warmer-than-average temperatures once again.
A dry front lingers over the southern edge of New England in the morning, creating partly cloudy skies from Boston to areas south during the commute. Morning temperatures will reach the upper 50s and low 60s as you make your way into work. Decreasing clouds will continue with a mostly sunny afternoon and highs in the low to mid-70s along the coast, with warmer temperatures farther inland.

Boston and most of New England can expect a mostly clear evening. Overnight lows may work into the upper 40s in Greater Boston. Some folks across extreme Northern New England may end up in the 30s.
Also, our sunsets are today before 6:30 p.m.
The setup — high pressure dominates, warmth continues
Tuesday through the weekend is going to remain dry with more sunshine than cloud cover as high pressure reigns supreme — not a good sign for our drought status.
The average high in Boston is typically 68 degrees for the last day of September. Tuesday will be warmer. High pressure will dominate the region with a weak southerly flow, prompting a few morning clouds, but not enough to block out the sunshine.

The afternoon will be sunnier than the morning, but throw a dart anywhere on a map of New England, and you’re in for a beautiful, mild fall day.
The air is quite dry, with dew points widely in the low to mid-50s across the region. A pocket of stronger high pressure will push into New England on Wednesday, dropping dew points into the 40s.

The only weather element worth making note about is a bit of an increase in wind on Tuesday evening. This will be due to stronger high pressure building north of New England and the strong Hurricane Humberto well to the south-southeast of the region, creating a pressure gradient that’ll prompt wind speeds of 10 to 15 miles per hour.
These winds are hardly a plan-disrupter, but you may notice the uptick on your way home from work or in the evening.

The strong, northern Canadian high will push into New England on Wednesday, calling for a cool and crisp fall day with plenty of sunshine across the region. Wednesday will see quite the breeze with some winds reaching 15 to 20 mph, with a few higher gusts along the Cape.

Greater Boston: Partly cloudy start with more sunshine in the afternoon. Highs to the low 70s along the North and South Shore, mid-70s in the city.
Southeastern Mass.: Some clouds in the morning, but turning mostly sunny. Highs to the low 70s.
Central/Western Mass.: Patchy morning fog under partly cloudy skies. The sun comes out more during the late morning and stays. Highs to the upper 70s, low 70s in the Berkshires.
Cape and Islands: A few morning clouds, but clouds decrease as the day goes on. Highs to the upper 60s, low 70s. A breeze of about 15 mph builds late in the day.
Rhode Island: Seeing partly cloudy skies turn mostly sunny. Highs in the mid-70s.
New Hampshire: Seeing mostly sunny skies. Warmer along the south with highs in the mid-70s, staying in the upper 60s up north.
Vermont/Maine: Mostly sunny skies with highs reaching the upper 60s and low 70s in Vermont, mid-70s along the Maine coast, and low to mid-60s across northern Maine.
